Cefpodoxime proxetil/clavulanic acid (CLAV) is a combination antibiotic indicated for treating a variety of bacterial infections, especially those caused by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria resistant to other antibiotics. Indications for Use This combination medication is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat mild to moderate infections in adults, adolescents, and children (in appropriate formulations). Specific indications include: Respiratory Tract Infections: Pharyngitis and tonsillitis (throat infections) Acute otitis media (ear infections) Sinusitis (sinus infections) Community-acquired pneumonia Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Uncomplicated and complicated UTIs. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Conditions such as cellulitis, abscesses, and infected wounds.
