Description

Faropenem 100 mg (often available as a dry syrup formulation like Faronem DS 100 Syrup) is an oral broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, particularly when caused by susceptible organisms or when first-line treatments have failed. It is used to treat infections in the following areas: Respiratory Tract Infections: This includes both lower and upper respiratory infections such as acute bronchitis, pneumonia (including community-acquired pneumonia), pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, and acute bacterial rhinosinusitis (sinus infections). Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Faropenem is effective for managing UTIs, including cystitis and pyelonephritis. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Indications include conditions like pustular acne, folliculitis, impetigo, erysipelas, cellulitis, subcutaneous abscesses, and infections of external wounds or surgical wounds. Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Infections: This covers conditions such as otitis externa, tympanitis (middle ear infection), and sinusitis. Gynaecological Infections: It is also used for adnexitis and inflammation of the Bartholin gland.
