The medication combines two active ingredients with different functions:

Formoterol fumarate: This is a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist (LABA). It works as a bronchodilator by relaxing the muscles around the airways in the lungs and widening the air passages, making breathing easier. It has a rapid onset of action, typically within minutes, and its effects last for up to 12 hours.

Budesonide: This is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) that reduces irritation and inflammation (swelling) in the airways. By controlling inflammation, it helps prevent symptoms like wheezing and shortness of breath and reduces the frequency and severity of exacerbations (flare-ups).
